Juice! Rooted Red & Detoxing Green

I love combating low energy with homemade juices. Whether I feel a cold coming on, am low on sleep or am just needing a boost, finding the perfect concoction is sure to cure any slump. Juicing is also my favorite way to use expiring fruits and veggies to prevent them from going to waste.


These are two of my FAVORITE flavors combinations!

Start any juice by WASHING all fruits, veggie and herbs thoroughly. I used my Hamilton Beach juicer. This is an really great and affordable ($50) juicer that's easy to clean! Highly recommended.


ROOTED RED Juice

Ingredients:

6-8 medium carrots - wash & cut off tips. No need to peel

25g ginger - cut off thick outer rind

1 large apple - no core, skins can stay on

4 small beets - cut off thick outer rind

2 lemons - whole, cut off rind

1/2 cup water (optional)


In a juicer, add carrots and ginger. (STOP! If desired, remove the ginger & carrot pulp for use in my bread recipe!). Combine remaining ingredients except water. Add water to taste. This juice is a bit on the sweet side, so I like to water it down with about 1/2 cup of water.


DETOXING GREEN Juice

Ingredients:

3 large cucumbers

3 large handfuls kale

1 lemon - whole, cut off rind

1 lime - whole, cut off rind

25g ginger - cut off thick outer rind

8g (handful) mint leaves

1 med apple (optional/to taste for sweetness)


In a juicer, add 2 cucumbers, kale, & lemon & juice. Then Add apple, ginger & mint. Juice. Finally juice the last cucumber to help rinse out any ginger & mint flavor left in the machine.


Both Juices will stay good up to 5 days in the fridge.
