Rose Lavender Dry Shampoo

Updated: May 14, 2020

This easy homemade dry shampoo works like a charm and smells DIVINE. I've been trying to ditch the aerosols and store bought products for easy, natural, environmentally safe self-made versions.

I wash my hair about twice a week...sometimes 3 times if I've had a lot of sweaty workouts. I have relatively "normal"hair ( i.e. it takes a while to get oily & isn't dry). This recipe has not only been perfect between washes but also as a texturized on newly washed hair. That said, everyones hair has different needs. Tweak the recipe as needed and always stop using any product that doesn't work for you.

Edit: Try this ANTI-ANXIETY Essential Oil blend that's also has crazy benefits for hair and scalp!

Clary Sage, Bergamot, Geranium & Eucalyptus

These scents can be intense so find the combination that works for you :)

It's worth noting, there are TONS of dry shampoo recipes out there. Most call for cocoa powder for brunette hair. The thought of putting something that smells like chocolate on my head, is super unappealing so I stick with the standard white powder and just make sure to rub it in. Regarding the essential oils, always start with ONE drop of Lavender, as it can easily take over the scent. I love having this smell heavy on the Rose with just a hint of lavender. Choose the scent you like most!

Ingredients:

1 part Corn Starch

2 parts Arrowroot powder

1 drop Lavender therapeutic grade essential oil

10 drops Rose therapeutic grade essential oil

Combine using a whisk. Transfer into a jar or empty/clean spice container.

To use, either pour a dime size amount into your palms and rub hands together. Rub into the root end of your hair, being careful not to aggressively rub it into the scalp as you don't want to clog your follicles, but simply absorb the excess oil. Comb through until there is no white residue.
