I have always been active. I was drawn to sports as a kid and continued to follow my competitive nature into a myriad of other activities well into my 20's. Dance, Weight Lifting, Running, Snowboarding, Competitive Soccer... anything to get the blood pumping.
At 22, I was in a car accident that quite literally wrecked me. I had whiplash so bad that it permanently changed the shape of my cervical spine and left me with chronic neck and back pain. Physical therapy, chiropractic work and acupuncture all helped but I was all too often incapacitated by pain. I attended yoga casually as recovery from more strenuous physical activities and as a form of therapy for my injuries. I always found relief on the mat.
I hope to give the gift of yoga to those who, also are desperate to find relief. Relief for their bodies. Relief for their hearts & minds. Yoga is NOT a practice accessible to so many people. Classes are expensive and can be intimidating. I hope to teach classes that are safe for all bodies and all abilities. I'm especially interested in learning more about to how to use Yoga as a tool for social justice. Yoga is MOVEMENT. Movement creates space that welcomes a renewed sense of self and an appreciation for the body. My hope is that I might create accessible spaces for people to find the same self-love, mindfulness, and healing that I did through yoga.
